07-07-07

Thus beings a very long entry:

The night before I was to be married, my sister and mother threw me a bachelorette party. My aunts and cousins were there, along with my bridesmaids, two who had arrived the day before and one who arrived during the party. The party was wonderful.
My sister majored in Rec Management so you knew before hand the games were going to be great, and my mother did the decorations so of course they were fantastic.
The party was Mexican themed (because that’s were Ben and I were going on our honeymoon). I wore a Mexican wedding dress and a little chilie-pepper crown.
We had horse races (with Mexican horses, or crate paper) and used beans to bet on the winner. We had Margaritas and lots of chips and Salsa. We played a hilarious mad-lib game that my sister created and then my aunt taught us a winking game (because you have to know how to flirt when you are married.) We even played a little bit of Pass the Sign before the boys came back from playing Frisbee. The finale was a Piniata that was filled with lotions and candy. The game was that however many hits it took for me to break open the PiƱata, was how many children I had. I got up to 27 before Ben took over (and his hits counted -1) so we ended up 6.

Kris and Kara stayed the night with me in my room. We talked for a long time and tried to come up with a song to play in the background during the slideshow of Ben and I. We went through a bunch of songs before we gave up and decided to watch “music and Lyrics” which ended up being hilarious, and we all decided that “POP goes my heart” was definitely the song. If only we had a way to play it…
We got to sleep around 2am, which I thought was extremely reasonable.

The next day I had to wake up early. I specifically scheduled the wedding at 4pm so I could sleep in, but I guess it wasn’t meant to be. Ben’s brother had turned 8 a few days before, and his parents had scheduled his baptism for that morning at 9am. Ben was the one who was going to baptize him.
Megan picked me up and drove me over to the church. Through the whole baptism I was texting three of the bridesmaids, mostly little cracks about “POP goes my Heart” and “I’m sleeping with a clown above my head.” Put the baptism was wonderful, and the testimonies were particularly touching.

Megan picked me up and had breakfast and a special treat waiting for me. It was then off to the hair appointment! On the way I started freaking out about the wedding and “what was I doing?” and so on and so forth. Megan had to deal with me being very bi-polar for the rest of the morning. She handled it very well. I had a wonderful time getting my hair done. The girl who did it is a very good friend of mine and the three of us talked until she finished. She finished 45 minutes early, so Megan and I went to the mall so Megan could rescue me once again from a crisis.

We got home precisely on time, and the girl who was doing my make-up was already there. I quickly changed into my dress and Kara and I decorated Acouchi with wedding ribbons.

Then it was make-up time! She did an amazing job, even though Ben showed up early and we had to shoo him out of the room.

Then Ben and I were off to the temple. We arrived 15 minutes early and then I discovered a flaw in my plan:
I had arranged Ben to drive me up there 1) so we would be there on time, and 2) so I one of us would not be at the temple, waiting for the other to show up, fretting if they were not coming.
This worked, except now we were at the temple, waiting for our parents to show, fretting that they would be very late. As it turns out, my parents were only 10 minutes late, and his parents were only 15 minutes late.

It wasn’t what I expected. I thought you got the Bride’s dressing room all to yourself, but that is untrue. You have to share it with the other brides who are getting married. In my case, there were three other brides while I was getting ready. It was very crowded. I had expected a lot of time for Ben and I to be by ourselves for a while beforehand, also untrue. We were told to wait until situations became available, which only ended up being three minutes. I did, however, manage to hyperventilate during that time.
We did get to meet with the sealer, who told us that our sealing had moved from the smallest room, to the next smallest room, because we had too many people.
All I can say is some people are DANG lucky I was apathetic by that point, and that they had another room available, I would have marched in and asked certain people to leave.

Once we were at the alter, it was perfect. Ben looked so handsome, and the room was so pretty (although too big, and it was quite tacky that so many chairs were empty, curse plans being ruined by other people!!) and then we were married. Ben and I both looked expectantly at the sealer, waiting for hime to say something like “you may now kiss the bride.” He laughed and asked what we were waiting for “do you need permission?” well, yes actually, His bishop banned us from kissing over three months ago and we were hoping a sealer’s authority would override a bishop’s authority so, yes; We did need permission.

I went back to change. By this time, the room was all mine. Once I got to look around, I realized how stunning the bride’s room is.

And then we came out, and I was handed my bouquet, and out amazing photographer was there, and the families were waiting outside for us and taking pictures like crazy. And my beautiful bridesmaids were there, all dresses up and looking amazing and…wait. I was only counting three bridesmaids. Where was the forth? Where was Kris?
But, no time for that! Pictures ensued. More pictures, and more pictures. It could not be delayed further, bridesmaid pictures were taken with one missing (that’s ok, there will be more pictures at the party later).

Soon, Me and Ben and the photographer were the only ones left. Which was good, because a storm was moving in, and fast. We finished just in time and scurried back to the car before we blew away.

Safe in our car, driving out of the temple parking lot, it started to rain. Luckily, the storm did not follow us home. By the time we reached the park there wasn’t a cloud in the sky and the sun was shining brightly.

The park was decorated beautifully. The tables were decorated in the wedding colors, there was an archway decorated with red roses,

and the cake!! The cake was amazing!! I had wanted a pretty cupcake cake, but My mother-in-law out did herself. Not only was it stunningly beautiful, it was so delicious to eat!!

There were millions of pictures taken, by this time Ben’s Groomsman were there wearing the Groomsman T-shirts, and My beautiful bridesmaids had changed into jeans and their Bridesmaid T-shirts.

Following pictures and a slight mishap with my party dress being left at the house and the bathroom doors being locked, but this was taken of in record speed and soon I was ready for fun!

The food was delicious (all vegetarian). But I didn’t eat very much because I was so excited to see all my family and I had things to take care of. This is when the problem arose: there was still no sign of Kris.
It became very apparent to me that she was not coming. This did not cause me much concern as Kris is like that, and I wasn’t surprised, and I lover anyway, no matter what, and it was the happiest day of my life so far and nothing could have really fazed me unless someone had told me that rather than just not showing up, she had been seriously hurt or killed.
The problem was that my other bridesmaids did not know Kris as well as I did, and they were panicked because they though I thought the day was ruined. Afterall, your best friend not showing up to be the bridesmaid at your wedding is supposed to be a disaster.
This made me concerned, because I did not want my bridesmaids to be concerned. Unfortunately, my brain was so scattered, that I saw this as a huge problem, but I couldn’t think of a way to tell them that is was OK. I decided to bribes was the way to go.
I took them aside and gave them the presents I had been so excited for them to open. It seemed to work ok.

Then came the speeches, the cutting of the amazing cake, and more pictures. My uncle has already unloaded his cannon, and the small cousins were happily launching marshmallows into the meadow. Well, actually, the small cousins had been shoved aside by the male cousins/uncles, who seemed to be more excited about the cannon than the children.

Too soon, it was time to go. I through the bouquet (and my favorite cousin caught it!) and Ben and I drove off in our Oreo-decorated car.

4 Days

Ah. This is where the panic sets in.

Krisface, would you just get here already so we can go laser tagging?

5 Days

Squee!! I'm so excited it's hard to do ANYTHING!! Last night I didn't actually get to sleep until 1:00am.

Everything is pretty much done. My dress in finished (and beautiful) and now it's just a matter of time. Well, that and cleaning out my car, my room, and Acouchi's room and moving in to the new apartment, but mostly it's just waiting.

Kitties Part II

Bells' babies are finlly old enough to take to the Shelter. Campurnicus is adorable. He is a very smart and curious cat. The twins are not so aware of their surroundings, they just wrestle all day. Joining the passle was a stray baby kitty, who is a long-haired cat. She is named FlufflyPuff. She is very scared of humans, compared to the other kitties who love nothing more to be hugged and held and petted. Everyone should go to their local animal shelter and adopt a kitty.

I need to find a cut outfit for Acouchi to wear the day I get married. I was thinking of just putting white bows in her hair, but now I think having her in a flower girl dress would be adorable. Where would I find such a thing?

Also, 10 more days!! And as a small warning, there will be a Jack and Jill shower on Tuesday, July 3 from 7-9pm. FYI, a Jack and Jill shower is a party where both boys and girls can come and celebrate a wedding. It will be be very casual, and there will be free food. Everyone should come.

11 Days

Saturday was AMAZING!! It was nothing like I expected, but so much better. Hopefully we're going back today. I'm so excited!

Sunday was hilarious. I teach Sunbeams (the 3-4 yr olds in Sunday School) and it was out turn to teach all the kids (ages 5-8) during Sharing Time. So, all my little kids were up in front of the microphone, telling all they knew about baptism. It was so cute!! Actually, it was more than that. They did a great job. Then we opened the font and all the kids got to see where they would be baptized. Then we played this really cute game my co-teacher came up with. It was a hit.

Later that Day Drek and I went up to his parents house, where we played Settlers of Zarahemla with his siblings. I was going to win (for sure, no matter what) on my turn. Drek happened to go right before me, and decided he was tired of the game, so he cheated and ended the game. Grrrr. Just so everyone knows, I was SO going to win.

Drek is officially moved in to our little apartment. I'm almost moved in. Hooray!!

People will start showing up for the wedding next Thursday. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it. I want to see my cousin!! Krisface will be down sometime that day too. Ah!! About to explode from excitement!!

Rumour has it laser tag sometime this week? So ready for that! Last Monday Drek and I took our dads (and families) laser tagging for Father's day. It was a blast. I actually did pretty well! I'm excited to play again.

18 more days

Let's see...Invitaions, reservations, rings, hair and makup, apartment, marriage licence, photophrapher, cake, food, bridesmaid gifts and shirts, plans, tickets, all done! Things left to do: Wedding dress and a suit for the Groom. Don't those things usually get done first?

Post one-hundred-one: Long Ramblings

For the last two days, the only songs I have been listening to are "Remember When It Rained" By Josh Groban and "umbrella" by Rihanna. Not that I have a thing for rain right now or anything, the songs are just SO GOOD!! I can't STOP listening to them. They're the kind of song that just sings to your soul. Oh. So good.

Ever since I hurt my foot I have not been exercising. I haven't been walking around, and I have been tired all the time. Yesterday I woke up exhausted (again) and decided I needed to exercise or I would die. That afternoon I did a bunch of yard work and mowed the lawn. It made me feel better and gave me a small boost of energy. I used that energy to hike the Y.

I up with friends just as the sun was beginning to set. The hike is only supposed to take 45 minutes, but took much longer because we found numbered, colored boxes all the way up with little riddles inside. It gave the answer to a previous riddle and then asked a new one. At first we thought it was a guy doing in for his girlfriend, and the last question would be "will you marry me?" but as it turns out, it was an activity for a singles ward. The point was to rescue some watermelon. Which I guess that failed at, because I am sure those watermelons ended up being brutally butchered.

It was great fun, although I really hurt my foot. I feel much better today though. Much better.

Crutches

I hate crutches!! My palms are so bruised they hurt worse than my foot does! I've gone into Maceys twice already (and I want to keep going back) becase they let me drive around on the little electric cart. It is a blast to drive.

I can't carry anything, including my purse, because it throws my balance off and I will fall. Yeasterday was the Employee Create n Take. I have been looking forward to it for over a month. The company gave us the paper and supplies we needed, and then showed us how to make five different, darling cards. I put the bag with my cards on my purse, but somone else had to carry it out to the car. On the way they fell out of my purse and I didn't notice. My beautiful cards are all lost and gone. :(

The good news is that my foot is healing really fast. I should be off of crutches by Monday!

How to Entertain Yourself in a Hospital Emergency Room

1- Read boring magazines
2- Update blog using Drek's laptop and the hospital free wireless
3- Send Drek out to the car to grab "Pirates Dice" (thanks again Xirax!)
4- Explain to passing hospital workers that this IS the game from Pirates II, not Pirate Yahtzee. Pirates DO NOT play Yahtzee
5- Blow up plastic gloves
6- Bat the blown up plastic glove between two people.
7- Pay a full on version of Calvin Ball using the blown up plastic glove.
8- Draw a face on the Blown up plastic glove
9- On the other side of the blown up plastic glove, write "release me". attach the blown up plastic glove to a 16 inch Q-tip and wave it out into the hallway.
10- Form a line where the back person is on a rolly chair and the front person in a wheel chair and roll around the room (and the hallway).
11- Upon discovering that the wheelchair handles are removable, write an S.O.S. note and stuff it inside the wheelchair handle.
13- Switch rapidly between laughing hysterically and almost having a panic attack because you've been in this room for so freaking long!
14- Recruit the janitor (who happens to be an old friend) into talking the nurses into releasing you
15- Become more daring in wheeling aforementioned line out into hallway and waving the aforementioned "release me" blown up plastic glove.
16- Discuss ways to stage a break out
17- Announce loudly that you are going to stage a break out
18- Stage a break out.

After 4 hours, it was determined that my foot is not broken, but "you were assessed in a triage situation so please contact your primary care physician"

Gah!

Brodcasting live, from the hostpital...

Picture this:

It's a beautiful day outside, the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and the Quark social is in full swing. Natrally, a game of Ultimate frisbee breaks out. I'm in the end zone. The frisbee is thrown to me. I start running. So does black-shirt-guy. we get to the frisbee at the same time, we both grab it, we both are NOT letting go. Suddenly, I am on the ground(frisbee still in hand, thank you very much) and my foot is KILLING me. No problem, I'll just walk it off. Well, the more I walk, the worse it gets. I sit down for a while but when I try to walk on it again it hurts even more. I finally make it home. My mother decideds to take me to the emergency room. My foot has been X-rayed and we are now waiting for the doctor to show up and deliver the news. Oh, the anticipation.

I can't lift my arms higher than my shoulders

My dad is fine. He has a major infection, but nothing antibiotics can't cure.

My sister is also fine. No letter. Tony will also be fine, as apparently you have spend 16 + hours a day for 6 months with someone who has TB in order for you to catch it.

Krisface left on Saturday. :( I was not there to say goodbye. I miss her already.

My family did end up going to the Condo. We had a blast. I will post pictures and details in my next blog.

On Sunday Drek and I drove down south to go Canyoneering with some of his friends. We spent 13 hours on Monday hiking, climbing, rappelling, swimming and something where you wander around, having no idea where you are going or how to get there, using no trail, and scratching yourself to death on branches and rocks. They called this "bushwhacking". I had a blast!! But now, I am more sore than I have ever been in my life. Ouch.

Friday, May 25, 2007

You told me this would be a happy day.

How today was supposed to go:

Wake up, got to work, say good-bye to be bestest friend Kris, go home from work, go on vacation!!

But no.

Stayed up much to late because of the excitement of Pirates. it's very worth seeing by the way.

My little sister should be getting a letter from the public school system today, telling her if she has been exposed to a public school student with TB. If she has, she cannot go to EFY, she cannot go anywhere, and my niece will not be allowed over for a very long time.

Krisface is also stressed because her house is not "move ready." They are not leaving today, maybe.

I am at work, and my mother calls to say my dad is in the hospital. He has exploding appendix.

Not that I'm stressing or anything...

This week in review. . .

Monday was movie night. Drek finally got me to watch Sgt. bilko, which was so much better than I thought it was going to be.

Tuesday was Kratizling's good-bye party. We had a great time playing laser tag, and then went to Red Robin for a delicious dinner. Ah, Red Robin, so many memories.

Wednesday was the 2-hr season finale of LOST!!! And oh what a great finale it was. Drek and I went over to Kratizling's house for a delicious crab and shrip alfredo pizza and to watch the show together. We were joind by Panda and Bamboo, two newly adopted kitties. They were both darling, until Bamboo decided he wanted attention and would not stop meowing during the show.

Today is, of course, Pirate day. Drek and I have tickets to go see At World's End at 8:00 tonight. I am so excited. Arrr.

Friday I will be off to another city, where I will come back only breifly on Sunday, and then flee South to go on my first Canyoneering adventure. That will be on Monday.

On Thursday I forgot to put my ring back on after I got out of the shower. I left the house without it. It bothered me all day. It wasn't just a little annoying, having the ring gone, it was grating. I kept checking my finger with my thumb and then panicking because I thought it had fallen off. All. Day. Long. Remind me never to do that again.

Today I am a bridesmaid in Megan's wedding. I spent all of yesterday afternoon and most of the night with her. Wedding stuff is insane. Why doesn't everyone just get married on a boat? All the cool people do.

I'm supposed to wear these stiletto heals to walk down the isle. The problem is I have a hard time with heels. Example : last time I wore heels I fell flat on my face walking from the Jury box to the witness stand. Pathetic. Megan promised to give be the strongest groomsmen to escort me down the isle. The idea is that then if I fall, it will be his fault.

Kitty!

Acouchi woke me up this morning by biting my chin. I think she remembers what happened last year around this time and is hungry for blood.

Bells had babies!! They are adorable! There are four little kitties; three girls and one boy. They were born three days ago.

After much deliberation, I have decided how I feel about having a reception:

So there will be no reception. There will be a BBQ with fireworks, and a waterfight. This is how I feel now:

Bridesmaids

Life is moving along. Things are falling into place for the wedding.
It occurred to me that all but one of my bridesmaids are far away. This is fine, but makes the dresses part difficult. Thank goodness we live in an age of picture-messages, IM, email and long distance phone calls.
Even more amazing, all of them are going to extremes to accommodate me. Rissy will be in Japan up until the day before the reception. It has been her life long dream to go, (she's leaving next week) and she's coming home early just for me. Not only that, but she rearranged her entire plan to come back early and had to pay hundreds of dollars in fees to switch her plane tickets. Kara will be at Yale until a few days before (I think, I'm not sure when she's coming, actually, I'm just glad she's coming. I'm so excited to see her!). She is a grad student and is supposed to be doing research in a lab when she comes out. She was going to use her time off of work to drive her best friend across the country, but now has to worry about coming here.
Krisface will be back from who-knows-where who-knows-when. She might even bring hubby-what's-his-face with her, but that is uncertain.
Megan will actually be here. Mostly. She's leaving to go on her honeymoon, but will be back a month before my wedding. I am a bridesmaid in her wedding (in May) and she has had to adjust us talking about her weeding plans, to listening to me talk about my wedding plans. Not only that, but being apart of two weddings in two months has to be stressful.
But they are all wonderful and I am very glad they all agreed to be my bridesmaids.

So . . . Very. . . Tired

Krisling and I have developed our own language which consists mainly of kitty pictures. Examples forthcoming.
I am so sick. I have decided having mono this time will not be fun like it was last time (but this time, I am not contagious).
Saturday is Haunted house day!! Everyone should come. We're going up SLC for the very last day Rocky Point is open.
Drek and I are reading Dr. Doolittle. Or rather, he is reading it to me while I am sick. It is very nice to be read to.

1 hour, 11 minutes

The Quark social today was a lot of fun. There was a great turnout, everyone had a good time, and the highlight of the afternoon was Cardassin's arm's suddenly spewing blood. That and Krisling's mad goalie skills.
My plan was to spend the rest of the driving up and down the freeway, hoping to run into a drunk driver, or rather, having the drunk driver run into me, but instead i went home and slept for three hours. Oh yes, I have Mono again. Joy. I was so tired yesterday at work that I came home and decided to take a ten minute nap. That was at 5:00pm. I woke up at 9:00am the next day.
Drek came home early today. He had gone canyoneering down in South. It was good to see him.

My Brain Now Goes Every-which-way

I shall start this blog by saying Conference was amazing. Also, I have the most wonderful boyfriend in the world.

I've decided that I should stop worring about how old I'm going to be and enjoy the last few precious days of youth I have left. I would never wish to go back before I was eighteen, being that old was just no fun. But eighteen and nineteen were good ages to be, and I especially lke being 20. Besides, I think my wonderful boyfriend wouldn't have dated me if I was nineteen.

In conclusion, Linkin Park has a new album coming out. It is amazing.

As I Remember It

Around 5:30 Drek comes to my door. He has with him three red roses. "The best part of my day is seeing you."
Our first stop it a Frisbee golf course. We had a lot of fun, it was a beautiful afternoon and I did much better than our previous game. When that was finished he hands me three more roses. "The funnest part of my day is playing games with you."
Next we go out to dinner, which was wonderful. Afterward I got three more roses.
He told me he had looked up another geocache. He had already programed the coordinates into his GPS. when we drove up the canyon he handed it to me. The title was my name, the description was "I love you."
He also said this geocache was an Easter geocache.
We hiked up the mountainside until we came to a bunch of rocks. Instead of looking for the geocache we went for a short walk where he asked me what three things I wanted most in life.
Around 8:00 went back to the rocks. I searched one side he searched the other but it was getting very dark. He finally came over to my side and found it right away. It was in a peanut butter jar (a perfect Claire and Charlie peanut butter jar). Inside was the Easter grass and lots of plastic eggs. The things with geochaches is there are a lot of items inside and you pick the one you want.
Inside the eggs were little pieces of paper with things written on them like "become a professional puppy-killer" and "move to Alaska". things I would never want to do. "You have to pick one." he says. "or, I may have another option. It will take a long long time. It will take a lot of effort. But we are perfect for it." And he hands me an egg with a ring inside.
Oh yes, and I got three more roses.

Life Continues On

-I am so ready to be done with training. It's not really that bad, I'd just like to get through the work day without having to listen to a conversation about lesbians and sex with pillows. It would also be nice to make it through a work day without hearing the F word half a dozen times.
-I want to run away to Texas. My Grandma is encouraging this. I hope it works out.
-My diet is now almost complete. I am no longer allergic to cheese, milk, chocolate, or preservitives. Tomorrow we shall find out about corn.

One Month to the Day of Doom

I have a life list of goals. This list was supposed to be compleated by April 8, 2007 a.k.a. my 21st birthday.
I'm so not going to make it.
Not only that, but 21 is just old. I don't want to be 21! I like telling people I'm 20, it sounds nice. I've always hated birthdays, but this one looms more dreaded.

Ɠglaigh na hƉireann

Of course I want more!!

This miliatry organization's first demonstation went something like this:
Weapons were supplied by Germany under the auspices of a leading human rights campaigner - including over 20,000 rifles and 10 machine guns. However, the plot was discovered and the weapons were lost when the ship carrying them was scuttled to prevent the arms from falling into the hands of the ememy.
When the Rising broke out, the Volunteer leader found out about the plot at the last minute and issued countermanding orders to Volunteer units around the country. As a result, less than 2000 Volunteers out of 12,000 turned out. The plan was to seize a compact area and launch simultaneous Risings around the country. In the event, the rising consisted of a week's street fighting in the capital after which the rebels surrendered. The enemy used overwhelming force, including over 16,000 troops, artillery and a naval gunboat, to put down the rebellion. Over half the 500 or so killed were civilians caught in the crossfire.

If You Act Like It's Summer, It Will Be Summer.

Yesterday Drek and I went a snow hike. It was very peaceful. We saw lots of dear and somewhere around a thousand wild turkeys.
After the hike we decided to sit in an outdoor hot tub and eat ice cream. It really wasn't as cold as I thought it would be. That is until I had to get out of the hot tub and walk around barefoot and wet on snow.
Later we went out to dinner with Krateizling to Red Lobster. It was delicious. And very warm after being so cold.

Not-So-Quick Update

I went to San Diego. On the flight to Las Vegas I stared at the guy sitting in front of me, pretty much the whole time, trying to figure out if he was someone I knew. At the Las Vegas airport he came up to me. He was!! It turned out we were both going to San Diego so we sat next to each other and watched an edited version of "Little Miss Sunshine" on my laptop. It made the flight bearable anyway.
I stayed in California for three days. The first day I got to take the train up to Anaheim and a Taxi to Disney land.

I know it's blurry. This is a pidgon inside the Train Station. As in "Zim. There's a pidgon on your head. You have head pidgons. Leave before you infect the other children."

Waiting at the Train Station

The kids were great. We were exhausted by the end of the day. Posh Spice cut in front of us in line. I only know it was her because the people behind us completely freaked out. Even after I told the kids who she was they didn't understand. They had never heard of the Spice Girls.
Day two was a Mardi Gras party were I had a very strange green drink. It was supposed to be "the Disneyland version because this is a family friendly party." It was still strange. I wrote my story for the ESSC that night. Maybe that will explain why it was so weird. The story, not the drink.
Day three we took a hike in the canyons. It was beautiful. Later that day was my flight home.

The next weekend Drek and I went drove to Las Vegas.

The drive was fantastic, so much better than flying. We stayed with my Aunt and Uncle. They were so wonderful to us. We visited the Casinos, watched the fountain show at the Belagio and visited the LDS temple. The temple was the only place we took pictures.

That night we went on the thrill rides on the Stratosphere. It was amazing. we had so much fun. Another life goal completed. On Sunday we went with my Aunt and Uncle to their Methodist church. That was amazing. The songs were wonderful and I even got to do Communion because the "wine" was just grape juice. We drove home that day. It was a wonderful trip.

I didn't watch the Oscars. It was a sad habit anyway. Time to give it up.

Krisling got me a job at her work. I'm so excited to start!! It means I'll have to quit my Nannying job, but that is a good thing.

And More Games!!

Ok, if you know the answer to this one, post the answer and a question of your own. Keep that going. This is fun.

A notorious site for suicide, the official suicide count ended in 1995 when the number approached 1,000. There were 34 confirmed bridge jump suicides in 2006. Currently, it is said that a person jumps off this site every 15 days.
As of 2006, only 26 people are known to have survived the jump. There is only one known person to have jumped from twice. She survived the first jump in early 1988, but died in her second attempt later that year.

And yes, I am making these harder.

The Game Continues

These are shorter. Good luck.
As the man said, Google=cheating

The Legenda Aurea of Jacobus de Voragine gives the very brief vita of This Saint refusing to deny Christ before the Emperor Claudius in the year 280. Before his head was cut off, he restored sight and hearing to the daughter of his jailer. Later works say that he sent the same girl a love note on his final day.

These "spirits of the night," are called so becase of their large, reflective eyes.
They are found naturally only on the island of Madagascar and some smaller surrounding islands, including the Comoros (where it is likely they were introduced by humans). In the television show Seinfeld, the character of Newman is decribed as having climbing abilities rivaling those of a ring-tailed creatures.
Zoboomafoo, an educational PBS Kids television program features a Verreaux's Sifaka who is also the show's namesake.

This man was pressed into Navel service and later became a slave to the "slaves in Africa." After being rescued he became a succesful slave trader and a strong Christian. Later he became a minister and an abolitionist. Among his greatest contributions to history was in 1785 encouraging Wilberforce, the newly-converted Member of Parliament for Hull, to stay in Parliament and "serve God where he was", rather than enter the ministry. Wilberforce heeded the ex-slaveship captain's advice, and spent the next five decades successfully working for the abolition of slavery in the British Empire.

Still Broken

My best friend growing up got married yesterday.
Weird.

Today was also the "welcome home centered sacrament meeting" of a friend of mine from high school. I was planning on going up until I was about to walk out the door. I suddenly realized that there was a slight possibility that BWM would be there too. The thought terrified me. I tried to tell myself that he probably wasn't even in Provo, or had no idea that our friend was even back from his mission, or that he's probably dropped all affiliation with the church, but it didn't work. I shut my front door and went back into my room. I just couldn't go.

On a happier note: I'm going to Disneyland!!

Part 2

Let's try this one again:

This fictional Character holds a terrible secret. She is a double agent working for MVD, and worked with Bond because she was under orders to see that he did not escape Le Chiffre. (Her kidnapping was staged in order to lure Bond into Le Chiffre's clutches.) Prior to her meeting Bond, she had been romantically involved with an RAF operative. This man had been captured by SMERSH, and revealed information about her under torture. Hence, SMERSH was using this operative to blackmail her into helping them. After the death of Le Chiffre, she is initially hopeful that she and Bond can start a new life, but realizes this is impossible when she notices a SMERSH operative, Gettler, tracking her and Bond's movements. Consumed with guilt and certain that SMERSH will find and kill both of them, she commits suicide, leaving a note admitting her treachery and pledging her love to Bond.

Fleming created a cocktail recipe in the novel that Bond names after Her. The "_______ martini" became very popular after the novel's publication, and gave rise to the famous "shaken, not stirred" catchphrase immortalized in the Bond films. The actual name for the drink (as well as its complete recipe) is uttered on screen for the first time in the 2006 adaptation of Casino Royale.
According to the novel, she was so named by her parents because she was born on a stormy evening.
her full name is a pun on West Berlin. Like her namesake, the city of Berlin, her loyalties are split down the middle.

Arguably one of the most famous amusment parks in the world, more than 515 million guests, among them presidents, royalty, and other heads of state, have traveled to this park from around the world since the attraction first opened to guests on July 17, 1955.

The Dedication is as such:
"To all who come to this happy place – welcome. ___________ is your land. Here age relives fond memories of the past and here youth may savor the challenge and promise of the future. _____________ is dedicated to the ideals, dreams and the hard facts that have created America… with the hope that it will be a source of joy and inspiration to all the world."

This is a weapon found predominently in Okinawa (there is evidence of similar weapons in India, China, Malaysia and Indonesia). They are often believed to have originated as an agricultural tool used to measure stalks, plow fields, plant rice, or to hold cart wheels in place, though the evidence for this is limited. Another belief, perhaps not as widely held, is that they were modeled after the San-Ku-Chu. Its basic form is that of an unsharpened dagger, with two long, unsharpened projections (tsuba) attached to the handle. The very end of the handle is called the knuckle. They are constructed in a variety of forms. Some are smooth, while others have an octagonal middle prong. The tsuba are traditionally symmetrical, however, the Manji design developed by Taira Shinken employs oppositely facing tsuba.

It is the weapon of choice for many fictional characters:
Marvel comics superheroine Elektra Natchios, and her filmic counterpart played by Jennifer Garner in Daredevil and Elektra.
In The Mummy Returns, the heroine Evie/Nefertiri (Rachel Weisz) and the villainess Anck-Su-Namun (Patricia Velasquez) do battle with golden _____ referred to as "trident swords" so as to dispel the anachronism of ______ as ancient Egyptian weapons.
Neo (Keanu Reeves) uses them in The Matrix Reloaded during the Chateau Fight, against the Merovingian's Exile henchmen.

Three months

Today I am officially old enough to serve an LDS mission.

I've never really had a deep desire to me a missionary and I'm pretty sure I would be horrible at it, but I have always wanted to serve a humanitarian mission. I've always wanted to go to Africa with UNICEF or something like that.

I got a second job. Now I work about ten hours a day. I took the job not for the money (although it is a good side benefit) but to keep myself busy. It's not working. Apparently I still have too much free time.

I keep thinking that I'm stuck here. Time is ticking away and I can't do anything about it. I'm useless and I can't change. I have to do something. Maybe I will go to Africa, maybe I will put in my papers for a procelyting mission. At least I'd be doing something. At least I'd be useful.

In Homer's Iliad he is described as of great stature and colossal frame, the tallest and strongest of all the Achaeans, second only to his cousin Achilles in skill-at-arms, and the 'bulwark of the Achaeans'. He was trained by the centaur Chiron (who had also trained his father, Telamon, and Achilles' father Peleus), at the same time as Achilles. Aside from Achilles, he is the most valuable warrior in Agamemnon's army, though he is not as intelligent as Nestor, Idomeneus, or, of course, Odysseus. He commands his army wielding a great axe and a huge shield made of seven ox-hides with a layer of bronze. He is not wounded in any of the battles described in the Iliad, and he is the only principal character on either side who does not receive personal assistance from any of the gods who take part in the battles. 'As such, he embodies the virtues of hard work and perseverance.'

********************
In this battle of 480 BC, an alliance of Greek city-states fought the invading Persian army at the pass of Thermopylae in central Greece. Vastly outnumbered, the Greeks held back the enemy in one of the most famous last stands of history. A small force led by King Leonidas of Sparta blocked the only road through which the massive army of Xerxes I could pass. After three days of battle a local resident named Ephialtes betrayed the Greeks, revealing a mountain path that led behind the Greek lines. Dismissing the rest of the army, King Leonidas stayed behind with 300 Spartans and 700 Thespian volunteers. Though they knew it meant their own deaths, they held their position and secured the retreat of the other Greek forces. The Persians succeeded in taking the pass but sustained heavy losses, extremely disproportionate to those of the Greeks. The fierce resistance of the Spartan-led army offered Athens the invaluable time to prepare for a naval battle that would come to determine the outcome of the war[1]. Subsequent Greek victory in the Battle of Salamis left much of the Persian navy destroyed. Xerxes was forced to flee to Asia and left his army in Greece under Mardonius, who was to meet the Greeks in battle for one last time. The Spartans and other Greek allies assembled at full strength and decisively defeated the Persians in the Battle of Plataea, putting thus an end to the Greco-Persian War, along with Persian expansion into Europe.

Random Facts

I now live my life in a perpetual state of hunger.

My awsomely-cool Guitar Hero game on my laptop has the song "Trogdor" by Strongbad. Macs could not get any cooler.

There are no Apartments for rent in Lehi.

The Academy Award Nominations are announced tomorrow.

This morning it was one degree. That is much too cold. Every time I go out in this weather, I get a headache, Thus, I wish I were in Tahiti.

I miss living with Krisling.

Awwwwww

Tuesday I got up to say good-bye to my grandparents (who had stayed with us over the holiday and were flying home that day) and to go to work. It has been horribly cold lately so I went out a few minutes earlier than I usually do to warm up my car. I remember seeing the frost covering the car and thinking that if I really wanted the defroster to make a difference I should have started the car twenty minutes ago. Anyway, I went back outside ten minutes later and while I was closing the garage I glanced over at my car. Amazing!! My windows were all clear!! How wonderful! It was then I released that Drek's car was parked on the street and he was sitting in his front seat, finishing up a letter to me. This was amazing because 1) He would have to wake up way early to do that 2) It was so cold I don't know how he braved the morning and 3) I was really a brat the day before. So you can imagine how stunned I was to find that not only had he cleaned off my windows, but he had made me "the Hot Chocolate of Friendship" and written me a letter. It was so wonderful.
And I admit it, I was two minutes late to work. It was so worth it.

Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam

I finally have a church calling. I am now the primary teacher of seven very active three-year-olds. This group of children has never been in Sunday school before, they have always been in the nursery. Today was their first ever sunbeam class. It was trying to keep all of their attention, especially when my co-teacher seems to think that their attentions spans are twenty minutes, not three. But it worked out and I have the lesson next week so I think things will go somewhat smoother. The best part was during sharing time the teacher stood up to give her testimony and (true to form) started crying. She said "When I came in to church and heard your little voices I got all weepy." To which one of my sunbeams said very loudly: "Me too!" It was wonderful.

And I'm back. apparently I missed a lot of national affairs: The death of President Ford and the hanging of Suddam.

But Mexico was well worth it. So much happened I'm debating wether or not to blog about the whole thing, just blog about pictures, or skip it altogether.

The One Day I get to Sleep In. . .

My phone rang this morning at 8:30. I can't believe it took me that long to recognize his voice. It hasn't changed at all. He doesn't even have an Italian accent. We got to talk for a while.

It's right up there with the best ways to wake up ever.

I've been listening to Mannheim Steamroller's Christmas CD nonstop. Someone just barely gave me and I haven't turned it off since. It finally feels like Christmas. Thank you thank you thank for that CD!!

Don't pay any attention. It' just the depression talking

I can't fix anything, you know. Like someone once told me, I can't even save myself.

I missed Aneeka's Birthday. I told myself a million times not to forget it. Last night I realized it had been last week.

Last night I dreamed I was drinking blood and it made my throat sore. Now I have sore throat.

Yesterday I spent a lot of time in the rain. And then the rain turned to snow. I wasn't cold.

I knew him, you know. I had the privilege of spending a few days with him. He was really funny. A genuinly nice person. And now I can't so anything. I can't even admit that I'll be devastated when he dies, that I'm devastated now, because who cares about the ex-girlfriend, right? Anything I do will just make the situation a million times worse. I can't fix anything. I can't even fix myself.

Past Week

So, notable events of the past week. . .

Let's see.
Last Friday was the Quark Dance. It was amazing. Tim was nice enough to let me dance with him almost the whole time. He even taught me a basic tango!
Saturday was Drek's birthday. It involved much secretnes and much coldnes.
Sunday was Drek's birthday part II. That was more secretnes, the phone stealing kind of secretness, and a lot of fun.
Tuesday was Kris's last night as a single. We both got very tired and ate some goldfish. Poor Sarah. She called us, but neither of us were coherent enough to talk to her. Anyway, Kris and I watched Da Vinci Code. I loved it. Kris said it was tool time.
Wednesday was the wedding of Krateizling. It was a success.
Friday Drek and I got lost in a parking garage. Luckily, he has an amazing sence of direction and was able to get us not lost.
Today was Trans-Siberian Orchestra day!! Hooray!! it was amazing!! There was fire, and lasers, and strobe lights, and singing, and instrument playing. Such a day could only be ended with fudge.

Friday, December 01, 2006

I saw me life flash before me eyes.

Today I got to go shopping with my mother and my wonderfully pregnant sister. We came home by way of State Street. My mother was driving, my sister and not-yet-neice/nephew were in the front seat. Suddenly we relized that there was a car coming towards us very quickly in our lane. What I mean to say is that he was driving north in an south bound lane. He was coming straight for us and accelerating. My mother slammed on the brakes and he swerved into the suicide lane, back onto the correct side of the road, and kept going, speeding like a demon, only to crash into two cars.

Apparently, it was quite the ordeal.

http://www.heraldextra.com/content/view/201927/

Yeah. So, that was an adventure.

Changing topics, on May 17 I posted that I was going to get a princess dress for the wedding of Krateizzling. Seven months later, and five days before the wedding, I finally got my princess dress. Actually, it's not so much a princess dress as a slinky dress. As in: "If I'm going to buy a dress I want one with a little more slink."
But I think it still qualifies as a princess dress.

Thanksgiving is over. Thank goodness. Thus begins what I look forward to all year:
CHRISTMAS MUSIC!!!
Oh Trans-Siberian Orchestra, I have missed you!!

And so the Christmas Season begins. Today I ventured upstairs and lugged down the Christmas Box O'Doom. The contents of which are currently scattered about my room. I was decorating until I ran into a small problem: I'm out of space and I still have two nativity sets to display. Hmmmmm. . . .
I love Nativity sets. I collects them. Unfortunetly, this year I seem to have a table-top shortage. Ah well, I'll think of something.

Happy Christmas everyone!

Pavor Nocturnus

Last night I had a Night Terror.
This is all sorts of frustrating because 1) I haven't had one in months 2) I still don't know why I'm having them and 3) I'm not even a teenager anymore, I should not be having them at all. grrr.
Anyway. It was a pretty mild one and except for the feeling of impending death and the desperately wanting to resort to old habits, it was fine. This morning I awoke and much to my surprise found that the feeling was not gone. I think the feeling is generally characterized as "anxiety," but it seems like much more than that while your experiencing it. It's more like knowing that any moment a cataclysmic disaster is going to happen. You want to dig your nails into something, anything. You want to hide in a dark cave and be be swallowed up forever. It's not fun.
Anyway, the feeling most of the day. Luckily, little girl was feeling especially cling-y today so I got to hold on to her for most of the day.
Afterward I went over to Krisling's apartment. Because she is a saint, she let me wash her dishes and organize her pots and pans. I'm sure she wanted me out of her kitchen and to stop touching her things, but she didn't say anything. It helped tremendously. We watched "Invader Zim" and sometime between Grr becoming the house and Zim writing a note to his past self the feeling went away. Thank goodness.
Also, Thanks to Krisling I now have Halloween pictures that I actually took, rather than stealing them of QUARK. That blog post has been updated.

Christmas List

Growing up I always thought that being an adult meant that you wanted boring things for Christmas. "I just want you to have a clean room." or "for you girls not to fight." I thought being an adult meant that all you wanted for Christmas was world peace.
According to that definition, this is the first Christmas I am officially an "adult". It is a very sad realization, only making the impending doom of my next birthday more terrifying than it was before, but it's true.
So here, for your entertainment, my Christmas List for 2006.

And you ask me what I want this year
And I try to make this kind and clear
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days
Cuz I don't need boxes wrapped in strings
And desire and love and empty things
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

And it's someplace simple where we could live
And something only you can give
And that's faith and trust and peace while we're alive
And the one poor child that saved this world
And there's 10 million more who probably could
If we all just stopped and said a prayer for them

I wish everyone was loved tonight
And somehow stop this endless fight
Just a chance that maybe we'll find better days

So take these words
And sing out loud
Cuz everyone is forgiven now
Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again
Cuz tonight's the night the world begins again

-Better Days, Goo Goo Dolls-

Writers at Work

As I'm sure you all know, November is National Novel Writing Month. Somehow, it was decided that this year a bunch of us participating in NaNoWriMo should get together and write all night.
Friday night we all showed up with laptops and candy, ready for a night writing genius.

Pictures!!

Hard at work. Stories (and homework) are all progressing nicely. Note the Latin Dictionary. No writer should be without one.

Drek: I don't know about you, but at 3:00 in the morning my writing becomes amazing! Everything I write is genius!
Jakeson: After I read what I've just written a little tear rolls down my cheek. It's just so beautiful!

Fortune Cookies and The Killers

Yesterday was a wonderful day.
It was the first time in three weeks I was not terribly depressed, therefore, it was a simply fantastic day.
I've decided I love my job. The morning was spent reading books with Little Girl, discovering what a tree is (trunk, branches, leaves, and bingy-bongas) to be followed by making a tree. It was a lot of fun and Little Girl was so delighted with it that she wanted to lie down under it and take a nap.
After work I drove around to run some errands and three Killers songs came on in a row. This, I took as a sign.
I got hang out with Bradley for a little bit and he listened to me while I talked my head off.
I also got to talk with my cousin for a while. He's newly married (less than a month) and it's fun to hear him talk about his life.
Best of all I got to see Drek. He took me out to dinner and my fortune cookie said: Any trouble you have will pass very shortly." Which I'm taking to mean that my depression spell is finally over.
We then went over to a friend's house to watch "The Great Race" which is always hilarious.

:)

Announcement:

I am NOT an object.

I cannot be owned.
I cannot be bought
I cannot be borrowed.
I cannot be stolen.
To borrow a phrase from Princess Jasmine, "I am not a prize to be won."
I do not belong to anyone. I am not the property of anyone. I am not a doll to be shown off, or a territory to mark. I am not to be claimed, I am not to be controlled.

Right now, I am making, as I have in the past, a conscious decision. It's my decision to make and I am perfectly capable of making it.
Good-bye.

Halloween!!

So, late as usual, here are some Halloween pictures:

Halloween Twister. Announced by the Dreaded (and handsome) Potato Hunter

The Dreaded Potato Hunter.

Me and Krisling. "I'm pulling fuzz out of my eye! My eyeBALL!!"

SuperNate

One Alien thought a SuperNate might be tasty.

Krisling in the back-up costme: a Fuzzball.

Sakura and Real Chainmail-Man

Creepy in the light, creepy in the dark. Almost enough to give me the Jibblies

Personally, I love the paper bag costume. Pure brilliance. And can it get much cuter than the basketball hoop? I submit that it cannot!

Aneeka with Drek's potato launcher. In case you can't tell from this picture, her costume was AMAZING. And, she did it all herself. It is now my goal to one day be that good.

Clue. What more can I say?

And the epic battle begins.

Another amazing costume. The Joker has returned!!!

Awwwwwww.

And to end, a crappy picture.

frisbee secrets

Browsing through Postsecret.com once again when I came across this gem:

So there was this one time, when we were playing Frisbee golf, and taking in the amount of people between us and our target I causally said: "20 points if you hit someone." He threw it, and hit a poor girl playing on the playground.
I actually collapsed, I was laughing so hard. This postcard makes it all the more funny.

Relocation

As an update, I quit my job on Friday. I told them that I would stay the weekend if they needed me, but that it was the end of the month so it was a good time for me to go. She replied that I would stay two weeks, or until they found a replacement nanny. So that was that.

Today was actually going very well. Little boy was being his usual difficult self, but things were running quite smoothly. The Evil Stepmother comes home just as I am finishing up dinner. I tell little boy to go wash his hands and come eat. Five minutes later I relies he has not come back. Then I hear Evil Stepmother screaming from downstairs. I hear little boy cry and there is more yelling. Usually, this scene unfolds upstairs, as Evil Stepmother doesn't like to go have to go down to the basement where little boy's room is. Today she must be in a good mood. The yelling and crying continue on for ten more minutes. I sit there and wonder to myself how I am possibly going to survive this for a few more hours, let alone another week. Finally they come upstairs and we have dinner.
Back downstairs Little boy gets into the shower and from upstairs you can hear Evil Stepmother and husband fighting. Again, I wonder how to get through this.

Soon I am in little boy's room, reading him his bedtime story. His father comes down and informs me that they have hired a new replacement. I excitedly ask if that meant that tomorrow would be my last day. He replies that tonight can be my last if I want. I am overjoyed at this news. Little boy is not so happy. We talk about it for a while and finally I hug him good-night and go into my room to pack. I decided to put the collection of little boy's pictures in little boy's room. When I go in there I find him crying into his pillow. He tearfully explains to me that I'm the nicest Nanny he's ever had and he doesn't want me to leave. We discuss it more, I assure him it will all be ok, and tuck him in again. I really had no idea the kid even liked me. I feel devastated for abandoning the child, especially in those conditions, but the alternative would be far worse for him. The poor thing has been given a horrible lot in life, but at least he is well cared for physically and financially. I do, however, think that the child will never be normal emotionally and there is absolutely nothing anyone can do about it.

Anyway, I pack up my car, leaving behind most of my stuff. I shall return for those in the morning. I go off to a meeting. While there I receive a phone call: I am to clear out all my things tonight.
What??
Is he actually telling me that I have to relocate all my junk at nine o'clock at night? Yes. Yes he is. In the midst of this, I get a call asking if I am going laser tagging. I explain my situation, and ask if she has any boxes. She does not. I thank her and hang up. Two minutes later I get another phone call asking why I am not going laser tagging. Again, I explain my situation. He responds by saying that I am the one that keeps complaining that we never get together anymore and when he does invite me to things, I don't come. "I mean I guess you have a valid excuse this time. . ."
Excuse me? For one, I have never lodged such a complaint. Two, My life has just been hurled upside down, I am given a deadline in which to relocate my whole apartment immediately, and your upset because I'm not going laser tagging??
I hung up on him.
Which I realize was incredibly cruel, and I know I'll regret it tomorrow, but I did it anyway.

Thankfully, my family is incredible, as is my boyfriend. They came to my rescue and I was completely moved within 45 minutes. So, a million thanks to my wonderful family, and by amazing boyfriend. You guys really saved me tonight. Thank you.

Good news and more good news

Conference weekend!!
It is a weekend I dreaded as a child and now look forward to most emphatic. This conference had particularly good timing, as the it followed a quite a horrific Friday.
The talks were amazing and, as always, just what I needed. It always amazes me that even though there is so much evil and depression in the world, all the talks are uplifting and hopeful. The Gospel really is good news.
A few talks really stood out to me, but the one that I was impressed with the most was Elder Holland's talk. The power he was speaking with was incredible. I think it also helped that all of conference was spent curled up next to one of the most spiritual boys I have ever known.
My sister and brother-in-law invited Meimei and I over to their apartment inbetween sessions on Sunday. We were there for lunch but, as they said, there were alterior motives. The motives, as it turns out, were to privilege us to some very good news:
They're having a baby!! The baby is due sometime around April or May. I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.
